Promotion for NB Publishers: Verskroeide Aarde / Scorched Earth Fransjohan Pretorius

Fransjohan Pretorius is a professor of history at the University of Pretoria. He has won numerous awards, including the Stals Prize and the FAK Prestige Prize for his research on the Anglo-Boer War. His famous book Life on Commando during the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902 is shortlisted for the Alan Paton Award.

The British policy of 'scorched earth' and the concentration camps during the
Anglo-Boer War has caused bitter memories and trauma which for decades after
the war is still haunting South Africans. In this newly updated edition
from a top seller, leading historians give a fresh and sober look at this
highly controversial aspect of the war. This full colour book explores the new
perspectives that are possible after more than 100 years, and brings new insights into one
of the most controversial aspects of the war.

The book is available and for sale in both Afrikaans and English. Please follow the links at the bottom of the page.

Please note that this book is NOT available at the Museum.
