Event: Boereradio Rockfees
Venue: War Museums amphitheatre in Bloemfontein
Date: 8 October 2019
Time: 18:00-22:00

The Museum is looking forward to welcoming everyone at this wonderful family celebration of the 120-year anniversary of the Anglo-Boer War. The Boereradio Rockfees is a thematic music festival and will be held in remembrance of all who fought and died in this tragic war.

Come and enjoy an open air concert at the War Museums amphitheatre (located in Monument Road) in Bloemfontein with the Radio Kalahari Orkes, as well as the local talent of Dirk en Die Republiek, Jacobus Silwer en Band, Thabo Hlongwane, Mario Lategan and Cezanne Yzelle. The theme music and background image of the TV series Arende will be used throughout and the story of Sprinkane met Kamaste, one of Siener van Rensburg's visions about himself, General de la Rey and President Steyn, will be presented by a great-grandson of President Steyn, Colin Steyn. Radio Kalahari Orkes will sing their famous song about this tale and Jacobus Silver and Band will also perform the song Emily Hobhouse. Well-known folk songs like Sarie Marais will also be performed.

Cash food stalls and a refreshments stall will be available. No private food or drink is allowed. Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Also bring your own candles and matches as there will be a minute of silence during which the candles will be lit in memory of all the women and children who died in the Concentration Camps.

Prizes will be given to the best dressed adult and child in Anglo-Boer War period dress.

The concert will start at 18:00 and last until 22:00. Secure parking will be available as well as facilities for the disabled.

There is already a huge demand for tickets. Book in advance at Computicket to avoid disappointment. The concert is presented in collaboration with the well-known Aasvoel Klub in Bloemfontein. The Museum is also happy to announce that Radio Rosestad 100.6 FM - Waar jy wil wees will be our Media Sponsor for this event.
