Boere Rock Radio
Location: The amphitheatre of the War Museum in Bloemfontein
Date: October 8, 2019
Time: 18:00 - 22:00

The Museum looks forward to welcoming everyone during this wonderful family celebration of the 120-year anniversary of the Anglo-Boer War. The Boere 'Rock' Radio is a thematic music evening and will be held in memory of all those who fought and died in this tragic war.

Come and enjoy an open air concert in the War Museum amphitheatre (located in Monument Road) in Bloemfontein with the Radio Kalahari Orkes, as well as the local talents of Dirk and The Republic, Jacobus Silver and Band, Thabo Hlongwane, Mario Lategan and Cezanne Yzelle. The theme music and visuals of the TV series Arende will be used throughout and the story of Sprinkane with Kamaste, one of Siener van Rensburg's visions about himself, General de la Rey and President Steyn, will also be told. The Radio Kalahari Orkes will sing their famous song about this story and Jacobus Silver and Band will perform the song Emily Hobhouse. Well-known folk songs such as Sarie Marais will also be performed.

Cash food stalls and a refreshment stall will be available. No private food or drink is allowed. Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Also bring your own candles and matches, as there will be a minute of silence during which the candles will be lit in memory of all the women and children who died in the concentration camps.

Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed adult and child in Anglo-Boer War period clothes.

The concert starts at 6pm and runs until 10pm. Secure parking will be available, as well as facilities for the disabled.

There is already a great demand for tickets. Buy your ticket in advance at Computicket to avoid disappointment. The concert is presented in collaboration with the well-known Aasvoel Klubin Bloemfontein. The museum is also privileged to announce that Radio Rosestad 100.6 FM - Waar jy wil wees - Wherever you want to be, will be our Media Sponsor for this event.
